The dominance held by Reebok in the women’s footwear category was being challenged by the multitude of “fashion forward” newcomers. Looking to establish a foothold among tween girls, Flint & Steel and Reebok designed a new sub-line called “Reebok Sweets”. Any doubt that Reebok could evolve their message from “retro” to “relevant” was silenced when, following the launch, it proved to be the most successful launch in a decade.
